Some might wonder about our "tagline." It reads (for those who didn't notice), "A group of classically educated, conservatively oriented Christian guys narcissistically opining on whatever comes to mind." Wonder about what, you ask? "Why insert "narcissistically?" My answer is, it's difficult to avoid. The concept of "blogging" is a recent web/cultural phenomenon. Much has been made of our individualistic/narcissistic culture, so much that it's tiresome. Yet blogging quite easily fits this category. Why should anyone care what we (I) have to say? I'm not entirely sure. Why should anyone care what anyone else that "blogs" has to say? Again, who knows. Yet blogging will go on, and those who blog will ensure that all of their trivial thoughts are out there for SOMEONE to read. Even if their never read. Maybe it's just comforting---now I have a forum that I can always express myself in, even if no one cares. Hopefully the fact that we are a number of guys (it's true--we are, despite appearance to the contrary) will offset this narcissism. This purports to be an actual exchange of ideas. Once the idea is out there, it becomes fair game. We still won't entirely avoid the narcissism--we'll just move the question back a step and ask "Why should anyone care what we think?" In the end, it might be the case that no one will. But we'll have a heck of a time with it ourselves. Yes, this post is self-referentially incoherent. --matt
